Mali’s armed forces say they have killed several suspected militants in an airstrike targeting a group of motorcyclists in the Ouagadou forest, north of Bamako.
The military said the strike was carried out on October 20 near Ngoma Koura village under Operation Dougoukoloko, following intelligence and surveillance operations that tracked several groups of motorcyclists.
Authorities did not disclose the number of people killed or identify the group targeted.
Reconnaissance operations are continuing to assess the strike’s impact and establish a final casualty count.
The operation comes as Mali continues to battle armed groups linked to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State amid a security crisis that has persisted since 2012.
