The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) have neutralized several terrorist bases and freed 12 hostages during a week-long operation in the Kayes Region, according to the military.
Conducted between March 14 and 21 under Operation Dougoukoloko, the offensive targeted key hideouts, including two major bases in Médina-Kayes, resulting in the death of around 40 jihadists, among them a senior leader.
During the operation, troops seized weapons, ammunition, kamikaze drones, communication equipment, and more than 3,000 liters of fuel, while also recovering three vehicles, including a bus belonging to SONEF.
The rescued hostages were taken for medical checks before being reunited with their families, as the army continues its efforts to dismantle armed groups in western Mali
