Malian Government Imposes 30-Day Night Curfew in Kayes and Dioïla Regions After Coordinated Attacks

The Malian government has imposed a 30-day night curfew across the Kayes and Dioïla regions following a series of coordinated terrorist attacks targeting military positions.

The curfew, which began on Tuesday, July 1, and runs through July 30, is renewable and restricts movement from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. in Kayes and from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. in Dioïla.

Only security forces and authorized ambulances are exempt from the restrictions, according to regional authorities.

The curfew comes in response to seven simultaneous attacks reported early Tuesday in Ségou, Nioro du Sahel, and Kayes, which prompted swift military retaliation.

The Malian army announced that it had neutralized more than 80 militants involved in the operations.

Authorities say the security measures are aimed at preventing further incidents and stabilizing the affected regions.
