Nigeria Destroys 329,865 Kilograms of Narcotics Worth Over ₦301 Billion

Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed 329,865.585 kilograms of narcotics in Lagos, with an estimated market value of ₦301.058 billion, or about $222.3 million. The operation, carried out following a Federal High Court order, involved drugs seized between April 2025 and May 2026, including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, cannabis, tramadol, codeine syrup and other opioids.

NDLEA Director General Mohamed Buba Marwa said the destruction demonstrates Nigeria’s determination to disrupt criminal networks by removing their financial resources. He linked drug trafficking to organized crime, terrorism and violent extremism, while Lagos authorities, Customs and the Navy reaffirmed their support for continued operations against drug trafficking networks.
