Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division have destroyed weapons trafficking rings that supplied arms to criminal groups operating in the Niger Delta
Acting Army Public Relations Director for the Division, Lt. Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, confirmed that intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of three suspects identified as Innocent Emiyemokumo Deidei, also known as Sele Bobo, Godknows Alabor Avor, and Godwin Osik.
During the raids, security forces recovered two English-made pistols, four locally fabricated pistols, and a double-barrel shotgun. The suspects and weapons have since been handed over to relevant authorities for prosecution.
Investigations established that the syndicates had been using routes across Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa states to discreetly traffic arms within the region.
According to the Army, the operation formed part of broader efforts conducted between August 25 and September 7, 2025, which achieved significant results in weakening organized crime and insecurity in the oil-rich Niger Delta.
