A Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has directed that DNA tests be carried out on Liam Aloba, the son of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. The order followed an application by the singer’s father, Joseph Aloba, who sought to confirm the child’s paternity.
The court instructed that samples be taken from the late artist’s remains at the Military Hospital in Yaba for the purpose of conducting the test.
It further ruled that the DNA analysis be done in accredited hospitals both within and outside Nigeria, with the expenses covered by the applicant.
The case listed Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, as the respondent. The court also directed that representatives of both parties be present during the sample collection.
With no opposition from the respondent’s counsel, the magistrate granted the request and adjourned further proceedings to November 11, 2025.
The outcome of the test is expected to play a key role in resolving questions surrounding the child’s paternity, as well as issues related to welfare and maintenance obligations.
