The Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seized over $649,000 worth of drugs during a major operation at “The Hook Hotel” in Lagos, arresting three suspects and recovering 589 bags of Canadian Loud cannabis weighing 417.3 kilograms.
In addition to the drugs, officers seized several vehicles, televisions, and refrigerators believed to be assets from drug trafficking.
Across other states, NDLEA operations led to the interception of over two million opioid pills in Jigawa and Kano, including tramadol and pregabalin, while cocaine, pentazocine, and bromazepam shipments bound for Saudi Arabia and Canada were also confiscated.
At the Seme border, three Ghanaian women were arrested with nearly five kilograms of cannabis, while in Kano, a 60-year-old woman was caught with 5.6 kilograms of skunk cannabis, and 100 liters of codeine syrup were seized.
In Edo State, officers destroyed nearly four tons of cannabis on two farms, arresting three individuals.
The NDLEA’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign continued outreach efforts nationwide, as Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa praised the agency’s dedication to curbing drug supply and demand.
