Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralized a suspected terrorist identified as Smally, described by the Nigerian military as a lieutenant to notorious terrorist leader Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, during a clearing operation in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State. The operation was carried out on Saturday by troops from Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force, who confronted armed groups in identified terrorist enclaves.
The military said the terrorists fled after troops responded with superior firepower. Soldiers recovered three machine guns, two AK-47 rifles, 11 magazines, 180 rounds of ammunition and six motorcycles believed to have been used by the group. The operation forms part of ongoing efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist networks, limit their freedom of movement and restore lasting peace and security in affected communities.
