Nigerien Leader Inspects Samira Gold Mine Amid Efforts to Boost Mining Sector

Niger’s transitional President and leader of the Safeguarding of the Homeland, General Abdourahamane Tiani, visited the Samira gold mine on Sunday as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s mining sector.

Located in the Tillabéri region, Samira is one of Niger’s largest gold mines, playing a crucial role in the country’s economic diversification.

The visit underscores the government’s commitment to developing the mining industry, which is seen as a key driver of economic growth.

Traditionally recognized for its uranium resources, Niger is now expanding its mining portfolio by increasing gold production, which holds significant potential for boosting the national economy.
