Niger’s Transitional President, Gen. Abdourahamane Tiani, has pledged to fully implement the recommendations of the National Conference in the interest of the population.
Speaking on Thursday, Gen. Tiani committed to key reforms, including the dissolution of political parties, a five-year renewable “refoundation” period, and increased control over natural resources.
He described the process as
an unprecedented procedure that brings reasonable hope for a new beginning.
The National Conference, which brought together more than 700 delegates over five days, resulted in a draft charter for national rebuilding and the establishment of fundamental principles to guide Niger’s governance.
The transitional leader also highlighted the role of the defense and security forces, expressing his satisfaction and that of the Nigerien people for their professionalism in maintaining stability.
