OMVG Forum Targets Nearly 30 Priority Projects for 2025–2030 to Boost Regional Development

The Gambia River Development Organization (OMVG) has unveiled 26 priority projects as part of its 2025–2030 plan, spanning sectors such as energy, agriculture, environment, water, infrastructure, and social services.

This initiative was announced at the OMVG Investors Forum, which opened Monday in Dakar, Senegal, bringing together high-level political leaders, technical and financial partners, and representatives from regional and international organizations.

The two-day forum aims to secure sustainable financing for the Integrated Development Master Plan (IDMP), a strategic roadmap for inclusive growth across the region by 2040.

The plan encompasses 179 projects and requires $7.9 million in funding for the initial set of priority actions, expected to benefit around six million people in areas along the Gambia, Kayanga-Géba, and Koliba-Corubal rivers.

Supported by the UN Capital Development Fund and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the IDMP addresses key regional challenges including food security, climate resilience, and access to essential services.

The forum continues with various panels focused on building partnerships with public and private investors to turn plans into tangible outcomes across Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and Senegal.
