The Guinean Football Federation (FGF) has appointed Portuguese coach Paulo Jorge Rebelo Duarte as the new manager of the Syli National, following a global recruitment process launched in June 2025 in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports.
His official unveiling is scheduled for August 12, 2025, during a press conference.
Duarte, 56, brings extensive experience in African football, having previously coached Burkina Faso, Gabon, and Togo, as well as a brief spell with Saudi club Al-Kholood in the 2024-2025 season.
Duarte’s immediate task will be steering Guinea through the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with crucial matches against Somalia and Algeria set for September 2025.
The appointment is part of a broader strategy to revitalize Guinean football, which drew 62 applicants for the role.
The federation expressed appreciation to all candidates and reaffirmed its commitment to achieving strong results under the new leadership.
