Political Mobilization Heats Up in Côte d’Ivoire Ahead of Presidential Election

Eight months ahead of Côte d’Ivoire’s 2025 presidential election, political activity is ramping up as parties intensify rallies and grassroots engagement.

Over the weekend, Ivorian Popular Front (FPI) leader Pascal Affi N’Guessan hosted a New Year’s gathering in Abidjan, where he called for opposition unity to challenge the ruling party.

He urged political groups to come together under a new coalition, the “Rassemblement pour une Alternance Pacifique, Inclusive et Démocratique” (RAPID), to present a strong alternative to a potential re-election bid by President Alassane Ouattara.

With tensions rising and alliances shifting, Côte d’Ivoire’s political landscape is set for an intense and competitive race. Key stakeholders are expected to finalize strategies and candidates in the coming months.
