President Mahama Champions Agriculture and Youth as Keys to Ghana’s Growth

Ghana’s president, John Dramani Mahama has called for a bold national shift toward an economy anchored in productivity and innovation.

The President who was speaking at the 2025 Horticulture Expo in Tafo, encouraged farmers, exporters, and especially the youth to lead this transformation, emphasising that the country stands at a pivotal moment in its development journey. He underscored that Ghana is not beginning its efforts from scratch but rather building upon decades of aspiration and groundwork laid by previous generations.

Referencing Ghana’s post-independence history, he suggested that the political gains of the past must now be matched by economic resilience and self-reliance.

He identified agriculture as a strategic sector for this renewal, positioning farmers as central to the nation’s progress. At the same time, he described young people as vital agents of change, with the energy and ambition to drive sustainable growth.

Addressing international stakeholders, the Ghanaian leader highlighted Ghana’s readiness to engage in global markets.

He presented the country as increasingly green, capable of scaling up exports, and committed to a clear development vision.
