The Russian government has declared its support for the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), describing the initiative as an African solution to African problems.
In an exclusive interview with a Russian media outlet, Tatiana Dovgalenko emphasized the importance of the Alliance for the region’s population and its positive impact on establishing a new regional security architecture.
The Russian diplomat described the formation of AES as an important step in consolidating the efforts of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to ensure national security and address socio-economic challenges.
According to her, the three nations will form a stronger alliance to counter terrorism in the Sahara and Sahel region.
