Senegal and Congo Deepen Ties as Prime Ministers Meet in Dakar

Senegal and the Republic of Congo are strengthening their diplomatic and economic partnership as Congolese Prime Minister Anatole Collinet Makosso begins a five-day official visit to Dakar.

Makosso arrived in Dakar on June 10, where he was warmly received by Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko at the Léopold Sédar Senghor military airport.

The high-level visit, which runs through June 15, is a key step in deepening cooperation between the two West and Central African nations.

During his stay, Makosso is expected to meet with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and engage in a bilateral working session with Prime Minister Sonko. Both leaders aim to identify new areas for collaboration in sectors ranging from energy and trade to education and infrastructure.
Accompanied by a strong ministerial delegation, Makosso’s visit reflects Congo’s strategic interest in enhancing its regional alliances and leveraging shared development goals with Senegal.

The visit marks a renewed commitment from both Dakar and Brazzaville to build stronger diplomatic ties and expand mutually beneficial partnerships in an increasingly interconnected Africa.
