Senegal and EU Strengthen Cooperation in First High-Level Talks Under New Government

Senegal and the European Union held their annual partnership dialogue in Dakar on Tuesday, marking the first high-level meeting since the installation of Senegal’s new government.

Discussions centered on implementing “Vision Senegal 2050” and deepening bilateral ties. Co-chaired by Senegal’s Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Yassine Fall, and EU Ambassador Jean-Marc Pisani, the dialogue focused on key priorities such as economic competitiveness, human capital development, and migration management.

The EU presented its “Global Gateway” strategy, an investment initiative targeting sustainable infrastructure in transport and energy. On migration, Brussels proposed a holistic approach that balances legal migration management with efforts to combat irregular immigration.

Both sides committed to ongoing sectoral dialogues, signaling a renewed and strengthened partnership between Senegal and the European Union.
