SENEGAL hosts 10th Dakar Forum on peace and security with African leaders in attendance

Senegal is hosting the 10th edition of the Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa this Monday, bringing together several heads of state and key stakeholders to address issues of stability, integration and sovereignty on the continent.

On the eve of the event, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye received Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio, who is attending in his dual capacity as Head of State and Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.

Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani is also among the high-level participants.

Held at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center (CICAD) in Diamniadio, the forum is themed “Africa facing the challenges of stability, integration and sovereignty: what sustainable solutions?” Over two days, discussions will focus on major threats including terrorism, armed conflict, climate change, transnational crime, pandemics and cyber risks.

The program features plenary sessions and thematic workshops covering sovereignty, digital governance, resource management, political transitions, regional integration and collective security.

Organized by the Centre for Advanced Studies in Defence and Security (CHEDS), the forum aims to generate practical recommendations for African policymakers, with proceedings set to conclude Tuesday with a summary and official closing ceremony.
