Senegal’s National Assembly has approved a reorganization of its governing Bureau, marked by the appointment of Malick Ndiaye as First Vice-President following the resignation of Cheikh Thioro Mbacké from his position as Third Vice-President. The changes were ratified during a plenary session on Monday as part of an ongoing institutional restructuring within the legislature.
Malick Ndiaye, who previously stepped down as President of the National Assembly after the election of Ousmane Sonko to lead the institution, now returns to the Bureau in a key leadership role.
The restructured Bureau includes eight vice-presidents, namely Rokhy Ndiaye, Ismaila Diallo, Mbène Faye, Samba Dang, Oulimata Sidibé, Mohamed Sall and Raqui Diallo.
Six secretaries and two treasurers were also appointed, while Ayib S. Daffe and Aïssata Tall continue to lead the Pastef and Takku Wallu parliamentary groups respectively.
The National Assembly said the changes were carried out in accordance with its internal regulations, confirming the new composition of the chamber’s leadership team.
