Senegal Targets Regional Health Hub with $10M Stem Cell Centre

Senegal is seeking to establish itself as a healthcare hub for West Africa with plans to build a $10 million stem cell therapy centre in Dakar.

The project, funded by Egyptian company Safe Call Bank, was presented to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye on Sunday in El-Alamein by the company’s director general, Dr. Hisham Issa.

The centre would provide advanced stem cell therapies to patients from Senegal and other countries in the region, potentially reducing the need to travel abroad for specialised treatment.

The project reflects Senegal’s broader ambition to attract health investment, advanced medical technologies and expertise while expanding access to specialised care across the sub-region.
