The Senegalese Army will host the multinational military exercise African Lion from May 3 to 15, 2025, in partnership with the United States, as part of ongoing military cooperation between the two nations.
According to the Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the Armed Forces (DIRPA), the exercise aims to enhance interoperability among participating forces in addressing diverse security threats.
Military units from Mauritania, Ivory Coast, the Netherlands, and the United States will take part in the joint operations.
The training will be conducted at two key sites: the Captain Mbaye Diagne Tactical Training Center in Thiès and the Colonel Thierno Ndiaye Training Center in Dodji, located in the northern Linguère department.
Extensive logistical support will be deployed to ensure the success of the operation.
The exercise will culminate with a “VIP Day” on Thursday, May 15 in Dodji, presided over by Brigadier General Simon Ndour, Chief of Staff of the Senegalese Army.
