Senegalese Customs Seize Over 32 Kg of Cannabis at Blaise Diagne International Airport

Senegalese Customs officers at Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) have intercepted more than 32 kilograms of hashish concealed in two suitcases.

The seizure, made by the Customs Tourism Brigade under the AIBD Subdivision, involved 59 packages of cannabis resin weighing a total of 32.686 kilograms, according to a statement released by the General Directorate of Customs (DGD) on October 9, 2025.

The operation, based on targeted screening and investigative techniques, led officers to identify and isolate suspicious luggage during a routine scan on October 2.

Further inspection uncovered the drugs inside the suitcases belonging to a foreign national with dual nationality who had arrived from an Asian country and was transiting to a neighboring state. Laboratory tests confirmed the substance as hashish.

The suspect has since been handed over to the Mbour Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities described the seizure as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle international drug trafficking networks.

The DGD reaffirmed its commitment to combating transnational organized crime and preventing illicit trade through enhanced surveillance and intelligence-driven operations.
