The 2025 edition of Senegal’s Grand Magal of Touba drew more than 6.58 million participants, marking a 12% increase from last year, according to the Culture and Communication Commission of the Organizing Committee.
Data from a study by Emergence Consulting Group, commissioned by the General Caliph of the Mourides, showed that 235,919 vehicles—excluding motorcycles and carts—entered Touba during the event, representing an average annual growth of 14.5% since 2023.
Of the total participants, 5.13 million were visitors from within Senegal and abroad, while 1.44 million were residents of Touba and the Mbacké department.
The survey also highlighted key trends in mobility, geographical origins, and logistical organisation during the pilgrimage, reflecting the growing scale of the event. The Commission noted that participation in the Magal has more than doubled over the past 14 years, rising from 3.09 million in 2011 to the record 6.58 million in 2025.
