Nigerian police have arrested six suspects in connection with an ambush on tactical teams in Benue State that left three officers dead and seven others missing.
The attack occurred on Friday at Agu Centre in Katsina-Ala/Ukum Local Government Area, where armed herdsmen and local militias reportedly opened fire on security units.
Two police vehicles were destroyed and several motorcycles stolen during the incident, while search-and-rescue efforts continue for the missing officers.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun condemned the assault as a grave attack on the people of Benue State, pledging swift justice.
Authorities confirmed that additional tactical units have been deployed to restore calm and track down those behind the violence.
Clashes between herders and farmers remain frequent in Nigeria’s Middle Belt, where disputes over land and grazing routes often escalate into deadly confrontations.
