Three Nigerians Jailed in Ghana for Vehicle Theft

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the conviction of three Nigerian nationals over a series of vehicle thefts in the Kumasi Metropolis.

The convicts, identified as Francis Friday, Linus Agwazie, and Russell Ekenze, were arrested on June 20, 2025, and arraigned before various circuit courts.

Ekenze admitted guilt at the Atasemanso Circuit Court and was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment with hard labour.

Friday and Agwazie, who initially denied the charges, were later found guilty at Circuit Court 3 and sentenced to eight years each on two counts, to run concurrently.

The courts further handed all three convicts an additional 20-year concurrent sentence on two counts at Circuit Court 1, while Ekenze received another 10-year concurrent sentence at Circuit Court 2.

They are currently serving their terms at the Kumasi Central Prison.

Police described the outcome as a demonstration of their resolve to clamp down on organised and transnational crime and urged the public to support prevention efforts by reporting suspicious activities.
