The Togolese government has issued a decree detailing the framework for the upcoming senatorial elections, scheduled for February 2, 2025.
According to the Secretary General of the Government, the electoral body—comprising regional and municipal councilors—will convene on that date to cast their votes.
The electoral campaign is set to run from January 17 to January 31, 2025.
To promote inclusivity, the decree sets the candidate deposit fee at 300,000 CFA francs, with a 50% reduction for women, aiming to boost female participation.
The government stated that these measures are designed to ensure optimal preparation for political parties and independent candidates, reinforcing transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
