Togolese Robbery Suspect Referred for Psychiatric Evaluation After Coprophagy Signs in Accra

A Togolese national accused of orchestrating multiple robberies in Ghana’s capital has been referred to a psychiatric hospital for mental evaluation after exhibiting signs of coprophagy — a condition involving the consumption of one’s own feces.

The suspect, Adinda Akpo Abdou Moudjibou, a self-proclaimed businessman residing in Ghana, is at the center of a high-profile case involving the theft of valuables in Accra’s East Legon area.

According to police reports, Moudjibou allegedly robbed a medical doctor on April 13, 2024, making away with US$200,000 in cash, gold jewelry worth over GHS38,000, and a registered pistol.

After fleeing to Togo, he was arrested in Lomé by Interpol and extradited to Ghana on May 14 through joint efforts by Ghanaian and Togolese authorities.

In his caution statement, Moudjibou reportedly confessed to multiple robberies, implicating a motor rider and an accomplice, Mohammed Djando, who is currently on the run.
