The Ukrainian government has refuted recent media reports claiming it supplied drones to rebels fighting in northern Mali.
In a statement released on Monday, Ukraine’s foreign ministry firmly denied the accusations, stating, “Ukraine strongly rejects the allegations of involvement in the supply of UAVs to the rebels in Mali.”
This response follows a report by French newspaper Le Monde, which suggested that Tuareg fighters in Mali were using Ukrainian drones with covert support from Kyiv against the Malian army and Russia’s Wagner group. Mali severed diplomatic ties with Ukraine in August after Kyiv allegedly provided the rebels with intelligence for attacks that killed Malian soldiers and Wagner fighters.
