WAEC Rebukes Ghana’s Education Minister Over WASSCE Results Timeline

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has strongly criticized Ghana’s Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, for his assurance that the 2024 WASSCE results will be released by Sunday, December 29.

WAEC described the promise as “scandalous,” highlighting unresolved financial obligations as a significant barrier.

According to WAEC, the government owes the council over GH¢100 million, a financial shortfall that has caused logistical challenges and delays affecting the results of approximately 460,000 students across the country.

Despite these setbacks, WAEC has reiterated its commitment to processing the results but stressed that the lack of funding has severely hindered its operations, casting doubt on the minister’s timeline.

The situation has sparked concerns among students and parents, raising calls for urgent government intervention to resolve the financial impasse and ensure the timely release of the results.
