World Bank Announces CFA 340 Billion Financing for Senegal

The World Bank has announced CFA 340 billion in new financing for Senegal to support projects in the agriculture and transport sectors, as well as resilience programmes targeting young people and women, following talks between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and the Bank’s Vice President for West and Central AfricaOusmane Diagana, in Dakar. The institution also confirmed direct budget support to the Senegalese government and the expansion of results-based financing, reaffirming its confidence in the country’s ongoing economic and governance reforms. 

During the meeting, both sides identified key priorities including reducing energy costs, accelerating the transition to solar energy, strengthening agricultural resilience to promote food sovereignty, improving the business climate, and modernising public financial management and governance. They also discussed the preparation of a new 10-year partnership framework to guide cooperation between Senegal and the World Bank in line with the country’s Senegal 2050 Vision.
