World Bank Approves $500 Million to Boost Agriculture in Nigeria

The World Bank has approved $500 million in financing through the International Development Association to support Nigeria’s agricultural sector under the AGROW programme.

The initiative aims to enhance productivity, strengthen value chains, and improve food security, with a focus on smallholder farmers and agribusinesses.

The project will provide performance-based support across key areas such as post-harvest management, processing, and market access, targeting crops like rice, maize, cassava, and soybeans.

It also includes measures to improve access to quality inputs, promote climate-resilient farming, and deploy digital tools for farmers, while prioritizing job creation and the inclusion of women and youth.
