Nigeria Launches Expanded Military Search for Abducted Schoolgirls in Northwestern Region

The Nigerian Army has stepped up efforts to secure the release of 25 students kidnapped from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), instructed troops involved in Operation FANSAN YANMA to intensify intelligence-driven operations and maintain continuous day-and-night pursuit of the abductors.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the operation’s Media Information Officer;  Captain David Adewusi, the directive came during his operational tour to the state.

Speaking to frontline commanders and soldiers, Gen. Shaibu emphasized the importance of collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters, describing them as key partners whose knowledge of the terrain could aid in locating and neutralizing the criminal elements.

Gen. Shaibu also urged troops to remain resilient and professional, operate within the rules of engagement, and uphold discipline while working to restore security in Kebbi State and surrounding areas.
