Mali’s transitional authorities have announced a cabinet reshuffle that keeps the government at 28 members while introducing structural adjustments and key promotions.
Three senior officials—General Sadio Camara (Defense), Alousséni Sanou (Economy and Finance), and General Ismaël Wagué (Reconciliation, Peace and National Cohesion)—have been elevated to the rank of Minister of State, a protocol upgrade that enhances their standing without altering their portfolios.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Abdoulaye Maïga relinquished his additional role overseeing Territorial Administration and Decentralization, with Brigadier General Issa Ousmane Coulibaly appointed to that position.
Other changes include new appointments at the ministries of State Reform, Agriculture, and Energy and Water.
The reshuffle comes as Mali continues its transition process and deepens cooperation within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), alongside Niger and Burkina Faso, where the rank of Minister of State is similarly used for strategic portfolios.
The adjustments signal a consolidation of key sectors—particularly defense, finance, and national cohesion—at a time when the country faces ongoing security pressures and evolving international partnerships.
The move underscores the transitional government’s focus on institutional restructuring while maintaining continuity in critical areas of governance.
