Agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 74-year-old man at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja after discovering 11 kilograms of cocaine hidden in his luggage.
The suspect, Ikwuakalom Nwakoro Emeka, was intercepted on March 14, 2026, while attempting to board a British Airways flight bound for London. According to the NDLEA, the drugs were concealed inside food items such as dried pepper, wrapped in aluminum foil and balloons.
In a separate operation in Lagos, officers arrested Maryam Olalowo at the Ikad Hotel on Victoria Island with 89 grams of cocaine and 20 grams of cannabis. After she identified her husband as the owner of the drugs, Ibrahim Olalowo Olatunji was taken into custody.
Authorities noted that Olatunji had previously been sentenced to two and a half years in prison in 2015 for similar offences.
