Afrobarometer Report Reveals 82% of Ghanaians Believe Country is on the Wrong Path

A recent Afrobarometer report by the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) paints a challenging picture of Ghana’s current socioeconomic climate, with a significant 82 percent of citizens expressing concerns that the country is heading in the wrong direction.

Released in Accra on October 31, 2024, the report underscores the pressing issues facing Ghanaians, particularly widespread poverty and high unemployment rates, which have emerged as the nation’s most critical challenges.

The findings reflect a growing public sentiment that economic and social conditions have deteriorated, with 82 percent of respondents personally reporting experiences of poverty.

The report highlights an urgent need for comprehensive policies to address these fundamental issues, as citizens increasingly call for solutions that will foster economic stability, improve job opportunities, and lift communities out of poverty.

The CDD’s Afrobarometer survey serves as a timely indicator of the current public outlook, providing policymakers with crucial insights into the expectations and priorities of Ghanaians as they navigate the nation’s socioeconomic challenges.
