The government of Burkina Faso has announced the dismissal of two National Police officers found guilty of embezzling public funds meant for the operational activities of a Mobile Intervention Unit (UMI) in the Banwa region.
The decision was taken during a Council of Ministers meeting chaired by the Head of State, Ibrahim Traoré, according to an official statement released Thursday.
According to the Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, the officers misappropriated 45.216 million CFA francs intended for the unit based in Kouka. The dismissed officers—Lieutenant Tiao B.
Nicolas and Sergeant Ilboudo Pawentoré Marcelin—were found responsible for diverting logistics and administrative funds.
The Council stated that the measure is part of ongoing efforts to reinforce discipline within the security forces and strengthen the fight against public financial misconduct.
