The Burkinabe government has announced a one billion CFA franc fund to support the nation’s film and audiovisual sector, marking a major step in strengthening cultural production.
The Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingdwendé Gilbert Ouédraogo, officially launched the call for projects under the Faso Films Fund during a ceremony in Ouagadougou attended by filmmakers and financial partners.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Burkinabe Agency for Cinematography and Audiovisual (ABCA), aims to promote local storytelling and enhance the country’s creative industries.

The fund will finance a range of projects, including feature and short films, TV and web series, cinema festivals, and professional training programs.
Authorities say the initiative reflects the government’s growing commitment to empowering local creators and developing a sustainable film ecosystem.
Established in December 2024, the ABCA continues to play a key role in supporting national talent and positioning Burkina Faso as a leading hub for cinema and audiovisual production in West Africa.
