Burkina Faso Reports 73% Territory Regained And 5.3% Growth Under Development Plan

Burkina Faso has recorded notable progress under its National Development Policy 2021–2025, including the reconquest of 73% of its national territory and economic growth of 5.3% in 2025, according to an official review presented in Ouagadougou.

The assessment marks the conclusion of the policy cycle and sets the stage for a new recovery plan covering 2026–2028.

Presenting the findings, Vieux Abdoul Rachid Soulama highlighted an overall implementation rate of 85.5%, improved macroeconomic indicators, and declining inflation, which stood at -0.5%.

Budget revenues reached over 3,700 billion CFA francs, while agricultural production exceeded national food needs, with cereal output covering 126.4% of demand.

On the security front, authorities reported the liberation of 871 localities, the reopening of 73 prefectures, and the return of more than one million internally displaced persons. Social achievements included expanded healthcare services, such as the opening of new facilities and the performance of specialized surgeries.

These gains were attributed in part to improved security conditions and government-led agricultural initiatives under the leadership of Ibrahim Traoré.

The review also introduced the next phase of reforms, aimed at strengthening economic recovery, national sovereignty, and inclusive development in a context still marked by security challenges.
