Air Burkina has strengthened its fleet with the addition of a new Embraer 190 aircraft, marking a significant milestone in the national carrier’s recovery plan.
The aircraft was officially received on Thursday, October 30, at Ouagadougou International Airport, during a ceremony attended by the Minister of State and Minister of Territorial Administration and Mobility, Émile Zerbo.
Zerbo described the acquisition as a “symbol of resilience” and a collective victory for the Burkinabe people, crediting the achievement to nationwide support under the leadership of President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
The new Embraer 190, which can accommodate 98 passengers, is equipped with upgraded safety, comfort, and reliability features. It becomes the second aircraft added to Air Burkina’s fleet since September 2024, a move expected to boost operational capacity and improve regional connectivity.
Established in 1967, Air Burkina is one of West Africa’s oldest airlines. The carrier has faced years of financial and operational challenges but is now showing signs of recovery. Officials say the new acquisition underscores the government’s commitment to revitalizing the aviation sector and restoring confidence in the national airline.
