Burkinabe Government Sanctions Seven Public Officers Over Corruption Allegations

Burkinabe Authorities have sanctioned seven public officials, including four dismissals, following public allegations of corruption raised by KORAG on February 1, 2026.

The disciplinary measures were announced after a Council of Ministers meeting, with the Ministry of Public Service confirming that the cases involved police officers, a specialist doctor, and a state land agent.

According to Minister Mathias Traoré, those dismissed include a warrant officer of the National Police, two municipal police officers, and a state property agent. Three additional officials—a National Police warrant officer, a medical specialist, and a municipal police officer—have been referred to disciplinary boards to answer for alleged misconduct.

The sanctions follow media reports published by KORAG, which exposed what it described as flagrant acts of corruption within the public administration.

The Council of Ministers praised disciplinary authorities for their swift response and instructed them to conclude all ongoing procedures as quickly as possible.

Authorities say the action reflects the government’s determination to combat corruption and restore public confidence in state institutions.
