Chad and Cameroon Launch a 90Billon CFA Bridge for Regional Trade

Chad and Cameroon have officially opened a new cross-border bridge between the cities of Bongor and Yagoua, marking a significant step in regional cooperation and economic development in Central Africa.

The ceremony, held on April 27, 2025, was attended by Chadian Prime Minister Allah-Maye Halina and his Cameroonian counterpart Joseph Dion Gute, who emphasized the importance of this infrastructure in facilitating trade and strengthening the ties between the two nations.

The 600-meter bridge, which cost over 90 billion CFA francs, is expected to improve the flow of goods and services between

Chad and Cameroon while reducing travel time and congestion. The project was jointly funded by the governments of Chad and Cameroon, with support from the African Development Bank, the European Union, and other international partners.

The bridge is part of a larger effort to enhance regional connectivity, support local economies, and improve security cooperation in a region facing numerous challenges.
