Chad is deepening its cooperation with Russia following a high-level meeting between Chadian Minister of State Dr. Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The talks, held in a context of shifting global geopolitics, focused on visa exemption discussions, boosting economic and trade relations, and expanding partnerships in higher education.
The two countries highlighted education as a priority, with over 300 Chadian students currently studying in Russia and expectations for that number to grow through increased scholarships and exchange programs.
The meeting reflects Chad’s strategy to diversify its international partnerships while offering Russia greater influence in Central Africa.
The engagement is seen as a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral ties, with prospects for tangible economic and cultural benefits.
