Chadian Government Sends Delegation to Bangui to Support Central African Peace Process

The Chadian government has sent a delegation to Bangui, led by Minister of Communication and Government Spokesperson Gassim Chérif Mahamat and Minister of the Armed Forces Issakha Malloua Djamouss, to support the implementation of a peace agreement signed on June 28 in N’Djamena between the Central African government and leaders of the 3R and UPC armed groups.

The agreement, mediated by Chadian President Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, includes commitments to an immediate ceasefire, disarmament of fighters, and full recognition of state authority by the armed groups.

The mission aims to initiate the agreement’s first steps, including establishing a joint monitoring committee, planning ex-combatant reintegration, identifying cantonment zones, and launching community development efforts.

It also reflects Chad’s growing role in promoting regional peace and its intention to deepen bilateral ties with the Central African Republic in areas such as security, trade, and cross-border cooperation.

Meetings with Central African authorities and armed group representatives are scheduled to sustain the momentum and prevent a resurgence of violence in the sub region.
