Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno has ordered legal action against individuals responsible for spreading false information on social media, as authorities warn of attempts to destabilize the country’s institutions.
The Presidency said misleading reports have been circulating for some time, falsely alleging internal tensions within the Defense and Security Forces and accusing actors linked to foreign interests of orchestrating unrest.
Investigations by state authorities suggest these activities amount to psychological warfare aimed at weakening national unity, social cohesion, and state stability.
As Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, President Déby reaffirmed his full support for the Defense and Security Forces and their leadership, commending their professionalism and dedication to national service.
The government has urged citizens to exercise caution, avoid sharing unverified information, and rely on official sources for accurate updates.
In response to the seriousness of the situation, the President has instructed the Prime Minister to take all necessary steps to identify, investigate, and prosecute anyone involved in producing or disseminating disinformation targeting the Republic.
