ECOWAS Chiefs of Staff have convened in Abuja for a three-day meeting aimed at strengthening military cooperation and addressing regional security challenges, including terrorism and the withdrawal of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger from the bloc.
The meeting will evaluate progress on recommendations from the 42nd session held in August 2024 and review reports from the ECOWAS Navy Chiefs’ meeting in Cabo Verde.
Key topics include replacing officers in the ECOWAS Standby Force and improving the operational capacity of the regional logistics depot in Sierra Leone.
Officials are expected to adopt strategic decisions to enhance military preparedness and regional stability amid growing security threats.
