Eleven Hostages Rescued as Nigerian Police Disrupt Kidnapping Attempt

The Katsina State Police Command has successfully stopped a kidnapping attempt and rescued 11 people (nine women and two men) along the Danmusa to Mara Dangeza village road in Danmusa Local Government Area, North-Central Nigeria.

According to Police Spokesman DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the rescue operation is a major achievement in the fight against kidnapping and banditry in the state.

The operation took place around 10:30 p.m. on June 8, 2025, during a routine patrol by a joint security team. The team included officers from the Police, Military, Department of State Services (DSS), Operation Sharan Daji, the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, and local vigilantes.

While patrolling, they came across a group of armed kidnappers trying to flee with victims taken from various areas. A shootout followed, forcing the criminals to retreat, allowing the security team to safely rescue all 11 hostages.

Police say efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent future attacks.

Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, praised the bravery of the officers involved and restated the command’s commitment to working with other security agencies to stop kidnapping in the region. He also called on residents to report any suspicious activity to help strengthen security efforts.
