The European Union has allocated €10 million in support to Senegal aimed at boosting the country’s defense capabilities and enhancing its role in maintaining stability across the sub region.
The assistance package is designed to help protect Senegal’s territorial integrity and shield its population from both internal and external threats.
It includes non-lethal equipment and operational infrastructure focused on key areas such as land and river surveillance, intelligence gathering, and troop protection.
This initiative, the first of its kind under the European Peace Facility (EPF) for Senegal, underscores a shared commitment to halting the spread of insecurity from the Sahel region.
Established in March 2021, the EPF enables the EU to finance military and defense actions under the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), supporting conflict prevention, peacekeeping, and the reinforcement of global security efforts.
