Gambian President Adama Barrow has publicly called on opposition leader and his former political mentor, Ousainu Darboe, to acknowledge the strides his administration has made in transforming historically neglected regions and to consider aligning with his government.
Speaking Monday in Sandu during his ongoing Meet The People Tour, Barrow highlighted extensive development projects in rural districts such as Sandu and Basse in the Upper River Region (URR).
He also urged local residents and supporters of the National People’s Party (NPP) to register all eligible voters ahead of the 2026 presidential elections.
Under Barrow’s administration, these communities have received unprecedented investments in roads, healthcare, schools, and agricultural support services, significantly improving the livelihoods of thousands.
The president framed these achievements as evidence of his government’s commitment to inclusive rural development, contrasting the current focus with years of limited attention from previous governments.
