Ghana and the Netherlands have signed a Letter of Intent to strengthen cooperation against illicit drugs and related criminal markets.
The agreement was signed in Accra by Ghana’s Minister of Justice and Dutch Justice and Security Minister DM Van Weel during his official visit, building on the Accra Call to Action and the two countries’ efforts to promote stronger international action against drug trafficking.
The partnership will focus on disrupting transnational criminal networks involved in cocaine, synthetic drugs and the movement of illicit funds.
Ghanaian authorities said drug trafficking poses serious risks to young people, public health and the rule of law, stressing that stronger international cooperation is essential to dismantling the networks behind the illegal drug trade.
