Ghana’s President John Mahama has announced that trade between Ghana and China surged to $11.8 billion in 2024, making China the country’s largest trading partner.
The figures were revealed during the Presidential Investment Forum in Beijing, where Mahama highlighted that between 2020 and 2024, China’s exports to Ghana grew by nearly 46%, while Ghana’s exports to China increased by over 11%.
President Mahama stressed the need to strengthen this partnership through technology transfer, infrastructure development, and value-added industries to ensure sustainable economic growth.
Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed China’s support for Ghana’s economic transformation and its inclusion in Beijing’s zero-tariff policy for African nations.
